After two hours of bonkers wind and rain and a muddy arrival at Festival No.6 with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the band took to the stage to perform the whole of Sgt.Pepper with The Bootleg Beatles just as the storm had taken a breather and dried out for a while. And then five songs later as ‘Paul’ started to sing ‘I’m fixing a whole where the rain gets in’, a gap appeared in the clouds and the sun made a brief appearance over Portmerion and for another hour, it was the summer of love all over again. Hosted again by Roger McGough, the show also included other 1967 Beatles songs with an encore of All You Need Is Love. This was my first Festival No.6 experience and, hellish weather aside, it was the perfect end to this year’s Sgt.Pepper’s celebrations with the RLPO and The Bootleg Beatles. Can you do the White Album next year please?
